I am 36 years old and found a painful lump in my breast last tuesday. I directly made an appointment to ge it checked out. I have a cyst that grows and shrinks depending on where I am at in my cycle. Was told to lay off Caffeine. GO SEE A DOCTOR ASAP! Don't just brush off you systems hoping they will go away. Good news or bad news there is help and treatments out there. A lump does not mean death!

I am 42 years old and have just had a mammogram and ultrasound and been told that there is a good chance that the two large lumps which ahve been found are cancerous. I am sceduled for an MRI and biopsy next week. Is it possible to detect cancerous lumps from a mammogram and ultrasound alone?

Hi there,I have had problems with ovarian cysts since I was little they come and go every month and are very painful however about 2 years ago or so i found lumps in my breast I went to the Er where they felt it and said it was cysts I then went to my family doctor and she told me i was to young for a mammogram I am now 28 years old they did go away on there own after a bit but for a while i would get them every month but lastnite i had some pain in my breast and sure enough the lump is back dont know if there is any point in going to my doctor again.the lump hurts and sumtimes my nipple feels numb anyone know if that goes with a cyst?

your doc says your to young for a breast check get a second opinion and leave that doctor. you are never to young for a breast scan if your under a certain age they use an ultra sound same as if you where breastfeeding because a mammogram will not see through the thicker more fuller tissue of a young breast where as an ultra sound can. please if your doc tells you your to young for a breast scan leave them and get a second opinion.

I had numerous cycsts in my early 20's. So painfull, that as a size 34b, still had to hold my breasts when walking down the stairs so they wouldn't move at all. At that time, I was told to give up caffeine, red meat, and chocolate. I stopped drinking coke, drank decaf coffee, and luckily never had a sweet tooth...still ate meat. The cycsts all went away. When I turned 40, I started drinking regular coffee again, and still have not had a problem. Never started drinking pop, except as an occasional splurge, which besides helped with the removal of the cycts, has kept my weight to a normal level! Good luck!

it's impossible to find out if a lump in the breast is cancerous or not without doing a biopsy. the biopsy is the ONLY way that will tell you with complete accuracy what the lump is.

Hi, can anyone help? I am 34 and last June started having terrible pain in my left breast. After doing a sbe, i found a gravelly lump that hurts when touched. Went to the dr and 3 copays later and no answers. He tells me that breast health isn't his thing. Asked for an aspiration, ultrasound, or mamogram. Was told no, your too young. It is February, still have gravelly lump although the pain is not constant anymore, just feel it once or twice per week. Doesn't seem to change with my cycle. What should I do??? I am a 34 year old female. No history of breast cancer in my family. I found a small lump in my right breast one morning in September. I phoned my doctor for an appointment. While looking for that lump, my doctor found another lump (bigger). I had an ultrasound done and (they are cysts). Since then I have been in GREAT pain. My doctor set up an appointment with a surgeon. He tells me that before he removed them he would like to do "a base-line" mammogram. I am hurting and I am sick of paying co-pays for them to tell me that I am young and I don't have breast cancer. Can one tell if it's breast cancer without doing a biopsy? I only take meds once of month (if needed) for my cycle. Now I am taking meds daily for pain. It has gotten to the point I hate I even went to the doctor. Please help. Sick of paying Co-pays for the same result.

Hi Anita,

I have had many breast cancer scares, fibroadenomas, currently 12breast cyst. Do not try to diagnose yourself. Any lump should be looked at carefully by mammogram or sonogram. Even if it shrinks to a speck you should get a mammogram. It can detect some of the smallest specks of calcium deposits to the large cysts, etc. Even if you see the doc, the first thing they will do is schedule you for one. Better safe then sorry. I hope that you can help me. My email is wondermima@gmail.com . I have been searching the net to try to figure out what this might be and your site keeps popping up...
over the past three months I have had a small bump, that looked like a bug bite month 1, month 2 a bit larger - mosquito bite- this month the size of a penny. It is painless and itches a bit at first, and seems to be a bit paler that the rest of my breast skin (if that is possible ;)
It goes away, but can be felt for a day or two under the surface. This month it appeared on the first day of my cycle. Which, makes me think this is hormonal? How do I go see a doc when it disappears and reappears?
Any resources you can point me to would be great, I am sorry to bother you. I thought that in all your experience you might know what this could be.

I have had two breast asperations from the same lump 2 times in 2 months. The first one was fluid filled and the other was not, and the second one was a hard and larger lump than before. Have to have a mammogram and ultrasound, will it show something that the pathology reports didn't? Thank you.
